Says BJP leaders not uttering a word against M.K. Raghavan

CPI(M) Central Committee member Elamaram Kareem has accused Congress MP M.K. Raghavan, who is contesting for the third time in Kozhikode, of having a “tacit understanding” with the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls.

At a news conference here on Monday, Mr. Kareem alleged that a section of State BJP leaders and district-level Congress leaders had worked out the deal for political gambling in the election.

The Kozhikode Parliamentary constituency was one of the seats where the BJP had secured more than one lakh votes in the previous elections, he pointed out.

At the national level the BJP was competing with the Congress party. However, the BJP leaders in Kerala till now have not uttered a word against Mr. Raghavan who was embroiled in a sting operation controversy.

This stoic silence maintained by the BJP leaders was enough proof that the party had struck a clandestine deal with the Congress. The lacklustre campaign of the BJP in Kozhikode was also another corroboration of the political trading, Mr. Kareem alleged. The BJP and the Congress-led UDF had also made an unholy alliance in Kozhikode district earlier, he said. None could forget the tie-up between these parties in the Vadakara Lok Sabha and Beypore Assembly polls years ago, he said.
