NOIDA: A woman police head constable was allegedly held at gunpoint and heckled by at least three youths on the Noida-Delhi link road last Tuesday in an incident of road rage.
Pinki Singh (40), who was driving towards her home in Sector 39, was intercepted by the men, one of whom allegedly pulled her collar. While Pinki claimed that the incident was a robbery attempt, the police suspect that it was a road rage incident as no attempt to loot was made.
Around 7pm on April 2, Pinki was driving her Swift Dzire near Film City area when a blue Baleno hit the vehicle, the victim said in her complaint. After she stopped the car, a man came out of the other car and allegedly started to hurl abuses at her. “Two more men were sitting inside the car. The man who got down the Baleno also demanded my car’s key. As I resisted the robbery attempt, he pulled my collar and hit my shoulder. He then took out a pistol,” she said.
She said the accused could not take away the car as a passerby driving a Honda City stopped near them and tried to intervene. The accused then allegedly fled. Pinki said she informed Sector 20 SHO Rajvir Chauhan and SSI Harinder Singh about the incident but they said that “they had a lot of work”. An FIR was lodged on Sunday after Pinki lodged a complaint to the SSP.
Meanwhile, police suspect that incident to be it a case of road rage. “The owner of the car is a 70-year-old man and the car is usually with his driver Ram Kumar. It seems that the incident started after the two cars hit each other. The complainant seems to be exaggerating,” a police officer said.
