Names of candidates fed into ballot units

The process of loading names, symbols and photographs of candidates into ballot units for the Thoothukudi Assembly segment began at the Government Polytechnic College on Tuesday.

Collector and District Election Officer Sandeep Nanduri inspected the process, which was conducted by officials from the Bharat Electronics Ltd. The process would be conducted across all six Assembly segments in the district until April 11.

In the Thoothukudi segment, a total of 988 ballot units, 346 control units and 375 VVPATs are to be used at 279 polling booths. VVPAT units would be used across all 1,595 polling booths in the Lok Sabha constituency. A mock poll would be conducted in all segments.

District Revenue Officer M. Veerappan, Sub-Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, Assistant Collector (Training) S. Anu, Thoothukudi Tahsildar Johnson Devasahayam and other officials were present.
