People will not believe a single promise of the party: Dikshit

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the BJP’s manifesto that was launched on Monday a “fresh set of ‘jumlas’ without telling the country what was the fate of its 2014 jumlas”.

Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit also said that the BJP manifesto was full of hollow promises and false claims without having any substance that would be beneficial to the people.

“Modi-Shah don’t have the courage to speak on why demonetisation was done, what happened to two crore jobs and why farmers were pushed towards destruction,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

He added that the BJP had promised full statehood for Delhi in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, but had now reversed its stand on the important issue.

“Now you have removed Delhi statehood from your manifesto altogether. You have deceived the people of Delhi. It is clear that you lie in the manifesto. How can the people trust your manifesto?” Mr. Kejriwal questioned.

Ms. Dikshit said, “The people of the country have understood Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s falsehood and his bundle of lies, and the voters have now lost all faith in him, and his hollow promises.”

She added that the trust that the people had reposed on the BJP to deliver in 2014 had been completely shattered as the Modi government could not fulfil even a single promise. It had betrayed the people and hence they will not believe a single promise in the BJP manifesto this time.

“The BJP manifesto cannot come anywhere near the Congress manifesto as the latter has many schemes to address the problems of the poor, farmers, labourers, women, unemployment, traders and small and medium-level businessmen,” Ms. Dikshit said.
