Bhopal: The Election Commission has warned the people about a fake message being circulated on social media that claims that a ‘challenge vote’ could be casted even if one does not have name in voter list. CEO VL Kantha Rao said that it is a fake message and one cannot cast vote until ones name appears in voters list. “You can confirm if your name exists in voters list from our portal nvsp.in or from toll free number 1950,” said Rao.
He also clarified that the same message also talks of ‘tender vote’. Rao said that tender vote could be cast by a voter if he/she finds out that someone has already cast the vote in his/her name, the aggrieved voter can still cast his/her vote. But chance of happening this has become almost zero because of photo identity card and voter slips.
Fake message making rounds
‘When you reach polling booth and find that your name is not in voter list, just show your Aadhaar card or voter ID and ask for ‘challenge vote’ under section 49A and cast your vote.If you find that someone has already cast your vote, then ask for ‘tender vote’ and cast your vote. If any polling booth records more than 14% ‘tender votes’, re-polling will be conducted in such polling booth. Please share this very important message with maximum groups and friends as everyone should aware of their right to vote.
