A large number of people took part in the human chain formed separately at Someshwar, Ullal, Bengre, Tannirbhavi, Panambur, and Surathkal beaches here on Sunday to create awareness on the need to vote.
It was organised by the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Committee (SVEEP), Dakshina Kannada and the district administration.
Students from Srinivas Group of Colleges were more in number at Kasba Bengre. Members from several organisations, namely Bengre Mahajana Sabha and CREDAI, Mangaluru Chapter, also took part.
A large congregation of students and holiday crowd was seen at the popular Tannirbhavi and Panambur beaches. After taking part in the human chain, there was entertainment programmes at the two beaches.
