BHOPAL: Patients have to wait for the launch of a fully functional Out Patient Department (OPD) in Kamla Nehru till the phasing out of Model Code of Conduct (MCC). A full equipped OPD was planned in the Kamla Nehru Hospital will help to reduce the present burden on the OPD of Hamdia Hospital. As Kamla Nehru hospital is located in the same premises another OPD will help ease out the pressure on doctors and to ensure better quality of treatment to patients.
Hamidia Hospital administration aims to divide the OPD of the Hospital between Hamidia Hospital and Kamla Nehru Hospital. An estimated 2,000 to 2,500 OPD patients visit Hamidia Hospital daily. After implementation of OPD, patients will be divided between both the hospitals. It will also lead to better utilization of resources including doctors of Kamla Nehru Hospital. With imposition of MCC in wake of general elections, the plan has been in limbo due to postponement of recruitment of doctors and staff for implementation of OPD plan.
Medical Superintendent of Hamidia Hospital Dr AK Shrivastava said, “Everything is in order in terms of the infrastructure. But just because of MCC imposition, the recruitment of doctors and other staffs have not been finalised. So, the plan, has been hanging in balance. We have no other option but to wait till MCC phases out.”
