MUMBAI: Forty-eight-year-old actor Urmila Matondkar on Monday filed her nomination at Mumbai suburban collector office in Bandra on Monday, declaring her movable assets worth Rs 41 crore, including shares, bonds and mutual fund (worth Rs 28.28 crore) and a Mercedes car. She also declared immovable property, including four flats in Bandra worth Rs 27.34 crore, according to the current market rate.

The Lok Sabha candidate from Mumbai North declared her main source of incomes from investment, rent, capital gain, dividend and professional receipt. Her husband is a businessman. She studied up to second year BA from Raparel College in Matunga. There is no criminal case pending against her.

Urmila, accompanied by her husband Mohsin Mir and a local Congress leader, submitted her nomination form around Monday noon. She is contesting Parliament election on the Congress ticket against senior BJP leader and sitting BJP MP Gopal Shetty. In 2014 election, Shetty had defeated Congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam with a record margin of 4.5 lakh votes. In the past, the Congress had fielded Bollywood actor Govinda from the Mumbai North seat, which he had won. Hit by the Narendra Modi wave in the last election, the Congress could secure only two seats in Maharashtra in the 2014 general election, failing to win any of the seats it contested in Mumbai.

Matondkar joined the Congress recently after the party decided to put her in a BJP stronghold constituency. Matondkar has appeared in popular Hindi films like 'Rangeela' and 'Satya' and in the critically-acclaimed 'Masoom' as a child artiste.
