It looks like the Lady of Winterfell might not be offering the Mother of Dragons a warm welcome after all. At least, not at first.

The very first footage from Game of Thrones Season 8 featured a surprisingly cozy exchange between Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), as Sansa told the Unburnt, "Winterfell is yours, your grace." Fans may have been confused by Sansa's words -- considering how hostile she was about Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) decision to embark for Dragonstone in the first place, it seems unlikely she'd so easily support his decision to "bend the knee" -- but now it looks like bonding with the Starks won't come quite so easily to the Khaleesi.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Emilia Clarke has admitted that her arrival to the north will yield some uncomfortable moments between Daenerys Targaryen and the Stark sisters.

Teasing the encounter, which will occur in Sunday's premiere episode, Clarke said that Daenerys will approach meeting Jon's family with good intentions, hoping that they will accept her professional and personal partnership with Jon Snow, but she'll instead be left with some doubts about whether they can.

"It's like: 'I hope they like me. [...] We're destined for greatness and world domination is a breath away.' And so I need to be like: 'Can I braid your hair, Sansa? Little Arya, come over here, let's play some cricket.' So there's that. And then, very, very quickly, it's like: 'Wait, is it just me, or do they hate me?'" Clarke explained.

However, Clarke also said that fans can expect to see Daenerys put on an even tougher front in the new season.

"She's not a scared little girl anymore. So there's less room for vulnerability or sentimentality or soft edges," Clarke said. Certainly, that is something the Stark sisters should be able to identify with in their own ways as well.

Given the footage from Season 8, it seems they'll come to some kind of agreement at some point -- whether feigned, forced, or authentic, we don't know -- but it sounds like we can expect some friction between the Stark sisters and Daenerys.
