BMW M5 Pays Another Visit To G-Power, Gains Carbon Fiber Bits

G-Power’s latest encounter with the new generation BMW M5 has made the German super sedan a tad lighter. How was that possible you ask? Simply by fitting it with a few carbon fiber parts.

The most striking visual upgrade is the aftermarket bonnet. Developed in CAD by the tuner, it’s said to “ensure a powerful Venturi effect while driving”. This means that it’s been designed to cool off the engine bay when needed, thus improving the performance of the car.

Aside from the new hood, the M5 F90 has also received a slew of carbon fiber upgrades, such as the custom kidney grille and rear spoiler lip. Also available are 21-inch forged wheels with a double-spoke design, and G-Power’s own badge instead of the BMW logo.

The tuner says that the first 5 orders will be getting the carbon fiber hood, no top speed limiter and an engine software upgrade for €7,495 (equal to $8,403), which represents a saving of around €800 ($897) if the parts were ordered separately. The tune allows the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine to produce 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW), or 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) more than the stock M5.

If 700 horses are not enough for some owners, then they could opt for the ultimate performance upgrade, which lifts output to an even more brag-worthy 800 PS (789 hp / 589 kW). For the ECU tune, modified turbochargers, downpipes with sport catalysts and stainless steel exhaust system, clients will have to pay nearly €20,000 ($22,424), not including installation.
