Five drown in village pond while fishing

Vadodara: Five persons including a woman and three girls drowned in a pond in a village in Jhalod taluka of Dahod district on Monday afternoon. The group had gone into the pond for fishing when the incident took place.
The incident took place at around noon when six persons had entered a pond at the Sarmariya village to catch fish. Unaware that there was a deep ditch in the pond, some members of the group fell into it and started drowning. Others rushed to their aid, but even they fell inside.
Six persons fell in the pond including four females. Those who fell in the included a woman Sabu Vasaiya, her daughter Pinkal Vasaiya, Payal Bariya and her sister Pinkal Baraiya as well as Arjun Baria and his brother Piyush Baria.
Villagers rushed to the pond on coming to know of the incident and informed the police. Piyush was brought out alive out of the pond while the other five died. After much efforts the bodies of those who had drowned were brought out of the pond.
