District admn organises voter awareness programme
Ludhiana: In a bid to ensure maximum participation of voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the district administration in collaboration with NGOs organised an awareness programme at Pavilion Mall in the presence of district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal.

NGO volunteers and students from Bajaj College made the people aware about getting registered as voters, voting, right to vote etc. through a nukkad natak performance. The residents were not only made aware of the election process, but a quiz competition was also organised. The winners were awarded tree saplings.

All the participants pledged to get registered and exercise their right to vote in a free and fair manner. Agrawal also inaugurated a special signature campaign regarding voter awareness.

The DC said during that event that India is the biggest democracy in the world and every person here has equal right to vote. He said some people do not cast their vote during elections or do it under influence. He urged the residents to exercise their right to vote on May 19, 2019, besides motivating others in this regard.

He said such awareness functions would continue to be organised in all parts of the district. Among other prominent persons present on the occasion included ADC Jagraon Neeru Katyal Gupta, assistant returning officer Sonam Chaudhary and district public relations officer Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal.
