As Surrey CCC starts its defence of the Specsavers County Championship three of the club’s key individuals will be making sure they are ready to go in new Kia Sorento GT Line 2.2 CRDi models.
South African bowler Morne Morkel – one of the team’s star players during last season’s winning campaign, former Australian batsman and now head coach Michael Di Venuto and Director of Cricket and former Surrey and England captain Alec Stewart have all chosen Kia’s large SUV to get them safely and securely around the country this year.
The Sorento GT Line features a 197bhp 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine driving all four wheels and has an extensive list of standard features to keep its driver and passengers safe and comfortable whatever the journey requires. The vehicle also features an eight-speed automatic gearbox complete with wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Kia Motors (UK) Limited has been involved with Surrey since 2011 and the current contract continues to the end of the 2020 season.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO said: “We were absolutely delighted that the biggest club in cricket were back where they should be last season – County Champions – and we will be behind them all the way this season. Together Morne, Michael and of course Alec form a key part of Surrey’s plans and I am delighted that they are relying on the Kia Sorento to make the business of a hectic season as trouble-free as possible.”
