National Democratic Alliance candidate Suresh Gopi has replied to the notice issued by Thrissur Collector T.V. Anupama citing violation of the model code of conduct.
In his explanation, Mr. Gopi said he had not violated the model code of conduct. He had not sought vote in the name of caste, religion or god.
A place name
“I have not used name of Ayyappan or Sabarimala temple in my speech. Sabarimala is the name of a place,” he said in his explanation.
The Collector issued a notice to him for allegedly seeking vote on the basis of the Sabarimala issue during his speech in a poll campaign at Thekkinkadu maidan recently.
In her notice, she had said that Mr. Gopi violated the direction of the Election Commission that invoking Sabarimala issue for campaign would be a violation of the model code of conduct.
