The price of the turmeric has been increased. “After nine days closure of the Erode Turmeric Markets for local Mariamman festival, has been reassembled on Monday. Many traders have expected low arrival, but the farmers have brought 4,000 bag for sale. The buyers after examining the samples have quoted increased price for the commodity. This is due to the fresh demand received by the traders from North India. They purchased more than 60 per cent of the arrived turmeric”, said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. He said the price of the turmeric was improved by two per cent at the Turmeric Futures for the past two days. This has reflected in local markets and the traders quoted increased price of ₹300 and above per quintal for the turmeric on the previous sale price (29th March Friday sale price) and purchased good number of turmeric.
