President Ramnath Kovind declared the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF India Rankings 2019) today, April 8, at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He also announced the Atal Ranking of Institutions for Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2019.
The NIRF rankings was released for a total of 9 categories - Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, and Law. The NIRF India Rankings 2019 for each category will also be released on the official website - nirfindia.org.

Top 10 Engineering Institutions in India 2019
* AIIMS ranked 1st among medical sciences institutes, National Law School-Bangalore tops law colleges: HRD rankings of higher institutes
* DU's Miranda House tops HRD's national ranking of colleges, St Stephen's ranked fourth
* 7 IITs among HRD's ministry's overall national ranking of higher institutes, JNU at seventh rank
* IIT-Chennai ranked first, IISc-Bangalore second and IIT-Delhi third in HRD ministry's national ranking of higher institutes
* Vellore Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu, topped the Private or Self-financed Institutions category
* IIT Madras topped the Government funded Institutions Category

* This is the 4th edition of NIRF Rankings by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The first NIRF ranks were released in the year 2016. The NIRF was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of HRD in 2015.
* The NIRF rankings are based on these parameters - Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
Last year's rankings
Last year, IISc or Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, was ranked as the NIRF 2018 top institute in the overall category. In the engineering category, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) was ranked top while IIT Kharagpur was the best in the Architecture category. In the Management category, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) was ranked top.
