The C4-generation of the Corvette isn’t exactly the most of them all, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have its fans. Will they, however, give this particular 1989 Corvette their approval? We’re not so sure.

What you’re looking at is a 1989 Corvette which has been extensively modified. The listing on Motorious says the Corvette comes “from the visionary mind of custom car builder extraordinaire Jerry Roman” and incorporates a host of bespoke parts which distinguish it from all other Corvettes on the planet.

Perhaps the most obvious custom element of this Corvette is the paint. The seller claims that it is bathed in 26 coats of Candy Apple Red paint. We’re not sure how necessary it is to have so many coats of paint, but if you want to make a statement in your C4, this is certainly one way to do it.

It’s certainly much better than the modded bodywork, which sports an extended nose which protrudes 5 inches past the original bumper. There are also new air intakes on either side of the front license plate mount while the factory turn signals have also been recessed into the nose. Custom bodywork continues down the sides of the car and forms around to the rear where there is a large wing/fin with uprights incorporated discretely into the rear wheel arches.

The cabin of the Corvette features seats with lizard skin which have been dyed red, making for one very interesting place to sit.

Under the hood, this C4 Corvette is powered by the original 5.7-liter V8 engine which now pumps out 245 hp thanks to a cast iron alloy block and an aluminum head. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed transmission.

Buying a decent C4 Corvette can cost you as little as $6,000 these days, but this one has an asking price of $49,990. Does all of the custom work justify that price? We’ll let you be the judge.
