Naidu has tacit understanding with JSP, she says

Alleging that there was no safety for women during the Telugu Desam Party government’s rule, YSRCP leader Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday said that the State government failed on all fronts. Also the party failed to fulfil the promises made to the public during the 2014 general elections.

‘Deceived SHG members’

“The government owed ₹25,000 each to the parents of girl children and deceived the members of the self-help groups in the name of distributing smart phones.

In all, the TDP government need to pay ₹1.2 lakh per family towards its unfulfilled promises,” she said while addressing a public meeting here as part of her election campaign.

“The TDP allotted its ticket to a leader who assaulted a woman officer in the public glare. The party had the history of ordering lathi-charge against women workers of the midday meal programme. Do we need the same leaders to be in power again?” she asked.

Taking potshots at the TDP leaders for accusing the YSRCP of joining hands with the BJP and the TRS, Ms. Sharmila said that the YSRCP had never forged alliances with any political party.

“Whereas Mr. Naidu never contested the election without taking support from other political parties. Even now, he had a secret arrangement with the Jana Sena Party and the entire State knew about it,” she said, adding that casting vote to the JSP was nothing but casting the same to the TDP.

Women problems

Recalling the legacy of her father and former Chief Minister late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Ms. Sharmila said: “People still remember the good work done by YSR even after 10 years of his demise and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was keen on continuing the welfare schemes launched by the YSR government.

The problems of women will be addressed if the YSRCP is voted to power, as the party is keen on implementing prohibition in a phased manner, besides ensuring implementation of welfare programmes to all the eligible notwithstanding their political affiliations,” she said.
