Teen drowns in Yamuna; two rescued

A 16-year-old boy drowned while taking a bath in the Yamuna, the police said on Sunday. Two others have been rescued, they said.

Shaheen Bagh police station was informed about the incident near Kalindi Kunj at 2.30 p.m., they said. The Delhi Fire Service said they received a call around 2.30 p.m. after which a fire tender was rushed to the spot. The rescue operation was completed by 4 p.m.

DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said Shoab drowned while taking a bath in the Yamuna.

His body was fished out with the help of NDRF rescue team.

The other two teenagers — Sameer and Usman — were rescued by the locals, the police added.
