Bhongir, one of Telangana 17 Lok Sabha Constituencies, will vote on Aprill 11.

Bhongir parliamentary constituency consists of seven assembly segments namely Bhongir, Jangaon, Ibrahimpatnam, Munugode, Nakrekal, Thungathurty, and Alair. Of these, Nakrekal and Thungathurty are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates.

TRS’ Boora Naraiah Goud is facing off against Congress’ Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and BJP’s Boora PV Shamsunder Rao and CPI’s Goda Sri Ramulu.

In 2014, TRS’ Boora Goud won the seat by a margin of 30,544 votes while Congress’ Komatireddy Rajhopal Reddy came 2nd.

Congress’ Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy won in 2009 by getting 5,04,103 votes against CPI’s Nomula Narsimhaiah who got 364215 votes.

Telangana, which has 17 Lok Sabha segments, goes to the polls in the first phase on April 11. They are Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Adilabad, Zahirabad, Medak, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Bhongir, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Chevella, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Hyderabad.

In 2014, when the state was formed KCR's TRS won 63 of the 119 the Assembly seats in the state. The TRS also won 10 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats, with INC getting 2, BJP getting 1, AIMIM getting 1 and the YSCRCP ending up with one.
