BJP will never exempt TN from Neet: CPM

Tirupur: The BJP would never exempt Tamil Nadu from Neet as the party had not even promised it in its election manifesto, CPM leader G Ramakrishnan said.
Addressing the media at Palladam in the district, the CPM’s politburo member said, “While the BJP-led government had not honoured the promises made during the 2014 lok sabha election campaign, how they could honour their commitment (made by BJP leader Piyush Goyal) of exempting the state from Neet. The BJP had been betraying the Tamil Nadu people but the AIADMK joined hands with them.”
“BJP also stated that it would promote Sanskrit in the schools. People can learn any languages they want, but imposing a language on the people is not acceptable,” he said.
Welcoming the Madras high court’s verdict on quashing the government order to acquire lands for the Salem-Chennai eight-way project, Ramakrishnan said CPM had extensively opposed the project. “It should be remembered that CPM leaders were stopped and booked when they tried to walk from Tiruvannamalai to Salem in a protest against the project,” he said.
On opinion polls, he said they were not scientific as they treat all the constituencies with a single scale. “For instance, in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, a poll survey claimed that 87% of the voters were not satisfied with the performance of prime minister Modi. But the end result showed that the BJP candidate had edge over the CPM candidate.” tnn
