NOIDA: The Allahabad high court on Monday rejected writ petitions by Jewar farm owners demanding four times compensation for the land acquired for the Jewar airport. The petitioners are now planning to approach the Supreme Court.
The Noida administration, meanwhile, is planning to re-start work on the airport project, which had got stalled due to the court case as well as the on-going elections.
Gangadhar Shukla, petitioners’ advocate in HC, said that two-judge bench of Justice Pankaj Kumar Jaiswal and Justice YK Srivastava head the matter. “The court rejected the farm owners’ petition finding ‘no merit.’ The farmers are unhappy and they have decided to move to Supreme Court,” he said.
The Jewar farm owners said that they have received information about this development. “We will challenge the HC order in Supreme Court,” said Rakesh Kumar, vice president, Jewar Kisan Sangharsh Samiti.
A group of farm owners continues to protest at Kishorpur village temple demanding four times compensation.
