Fresh electoral rolls released

Coimbatore: As many as 3,694 Braille voter slips for both Coimbatore and Pollachi parliamentary assemblies were received on Monday. They will enable visually-impaired voters to exercise their franchise.
Explaining that the slips will have a unique serial number of each candidate, name of the candidates and symbol in which the candidates contest, an official from district administration said that the unique serial numbers, in Braille script, will be pasted next to the candidate’s symbol on the voting unit to make it accessible for the visually-impaired.
The election officials received the slips for the 2,045 polling stations in Coimbatore parliamentary constituency and 1,649 polling stations in Pollachi parliamentary constituency.
Meanwhile, the district administration released a fresh electoral roll on Monday, according to which, as many as 29,02,510 voters from Coimbatore district will cast votes in the upcoming election, including 45,265 new voters.
Mettupalayam assembly constituency has 1,37,071 male voters, 1,43,840 female voters, 32 third gender voters. Sulur has 1,45,397 male voters, 1,49,743 female voters, and 18 third gender voters. Kavundampalayam assembly constituency has 2,14,520 male voters, 2,14,663 female voters and 80 third gender voters.
Coimbatore North has 1,60,538 male voters, 1,58,189 female voters and 31 third gender voters. Thondamuthur assembly constituency has 1,53,339 male voters, 1,54,774 female voters and 71 third gender voters. Coimbatore South has 1,22,410 male voters, 1,22,471 female voters and 19 third gender voters. Singanallur assembly constituency has 1,53,324 male voters, 1,54,652 female voters and 22 third gender voters.
Kinathukadavu has 1,48,672 male voters, 1,52,240 female voters and 34 third gender voters. Pollachi assembly constituency has 1,05,713 male voters, 1,12,445 female voters and 15 third genders. Valparai (schedule caste -reserved) constituency has 95,943 male voters, 1,02,229 female voters and 15 third genders.
