A: The prostitution racket which cops busted in Karelibaug on Saturday was merely the tip of a bigger flesh trading racket that was cladestinely operating in the city. This came to light with the arrest of a woman from Chhani on Saturday who told the police about the links. Cops also freed two more commercial sex workers from her den.
With the new development, cops are now trying to trace their way into the larger network operating not only in the city but also across the state. Police officials said that the trio used to call the sex workers from Mumbai via Surat. "The accused have admitted that the main operation runs from Surat with some connections in Mumbai," cops said.
Earlier, during interrogation the two accused from Karelibaug told police that they were supplying girls to Sunita Kori, a woman who was operating her den from Vasu Park Society in Chhani, who too in turn supplied them with girls. They also spilled the beans on their commission business. Cops will produce the accused in a local court on Monday.
