LUCKNOW: The historic Lucknow Montessori Inter College is set for a glorious chapter. The students of the 79-year-old school will soon be studying in smart classrooms equipped with modern education tools like audio-video lectures and computer-enabled teaching.

Lucknow Montessori School was started in 1940 by revolutionary Durga Devi Vohra, popular known as Durga Bhabhi. It was north India’s first montessori school.

The school, which has a strength of 1,750 students, will get 10 smart classrooms, a digitised library and modern sports facilities under the government’s model school scheme.

Over the next six months, the primary education department will bring about the transformation in the school. “In the span of six months, the picture of the school will be changed.

Realizing its historical relevance and the illustrious alumni produced by it, we will be working stepwise for schools’ development,” said district inspector of schools Mukesh Kumar Singh. Our priority is to make teaching more interesting with the help of educational videos, he said.

School principal Prashant Mishra claimed Lucknow Montessori Inter College will be the first government-aided school in Lucknow district to be made a model school.
