The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the party headquarters. Putting forward 75 resolutions for the next five years, BJP aimed to fulfill these 75 resolutions in the 75th year of Indian independence in 2022.
Here are the key promises from BJP’s manifesto for Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
- BJP introduced “Sankalpit Bhatar Sashakt Bharat”- a policy aimed towards Zero tolerance to terrorism. “Our security doctrine will be guided by our national security interest. This is exemplified by the Surgical Strikes and the Air Strikes carried out recently. We will firmly continue our policy of ‘Zero Tolerance’ against terrorism and extremism and continue to (give) a free hand to our security forces in combating terrorism,” the manifesto read.
- It also promised 33 per cent reservation in Parliament and state Assemblies through a Constitutional amendment. “Commitment to implement Uniform Civil Code It also said that it will secure constitutional protection on issues related to faith and belief on the Sabarimala temple and promised to bring a Uniform Civil Code”.
- Stop illegal migration fully – Committed to citizenship amendment bill but ensure identity of states not affected.
- An International Cultural Festival will be organised on a grand scale every year in five different states to showcase and promote the rich diversity of Indian culture.
- To secure constitutional protection on issues related to faith and belief on the Sabarimala temple and promised to bring a Uniform Civil Code. “We will undertake every efforts to ensure that the subject of faith, tradition and worship rituals related to Sabarimala are presented in a comprehensive manner before the Supreme Court. We will endeavour to secure constitutional protection on issues related to faith and belief.”

- Spending Rs 25 lakh crore in rural areas in five years. Doubling farmers income by 2022 – Zero interest for 5 years on loans through (kisan) credit card of up to Rs 1 lakh.
- PM-KISAN scheme to be extended to all farmers. Pension to small and marginal farmers to ensure social security after 60 years of age.
- The party promised that it will expand and popularise the teaching of Sanskrit in schools.
- The Union finance minister said the party was committed to annulling Article 35 A of the Constitution, which provides special rights and privileges to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The provision is discriminatory against non-permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
- Effort to complete all pending irrigation schemes by 2022
- 100 per cent electrification of all households. LPG cylinders to all poor – Increase seats in top law, engineering colleges.
- Toilet, drinking water in every home – 100 per cent waste management – 75 new medical colleges, post graduate institutes.
- Setting up of 1.5 lakh wellness centres under Ayushman Bharat.
- To achieve Clean Ganga mission by 2022. BJP seeks to spend Rs 100 lakh crore on infrastructure in five years.
