Claiming that the YSRCP would win the elections, the party’s candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency M.V.V. Satyanarayana has said that it is time the candidates making ‘guest appearances’ taught a lesson.
Dubbing his rivals—TDP nominee M. Sri Bharat, Jana Sena Party’s V.V. Lakshminarayana and D. Purandeswari of the BJP— as ‘outsiders’ to the constituency, Satyanarayana claimed that they hardly had striked a chord with the people here.
“Mr. Bharat’s only qualification is being the grandson of late M.V.V.S. Murthi and son-in-law of actor N. Balakrishna, while Ms. Purandeswari, who represented the constituency between 2009 and 2014 had not taken up any issue pertaining to the region in the past five years. Mr. Lakshminarayana does not even know the topography of Visakhapatnam,” he told The Hindu.
Mr. Satyanarayana said he was banking upon his philanthropic activities he had undertaken in the last 25 years and the people’s confidence in the leadership of YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for revival of ‘Rajanna Rajyam’.
“I have built thousands of apartments in this region in the last two and a half decades. If elected as an MP, I will be available to the people round the clock. Timely redress of people’s grievances is my utmost priority,” Mr. Satyanarayana said, adding that he would bid adieu to his career as a builder if he got elected. Mr. Satyanarayana said all surveys had indicated that the YSRCP would win with an absolute majority in the Assembly polls and bag a majority of Lok Sabha seats in the State.
24x7 water supply
Stating that people are fed up with the water supply by the GVMC on an alternate day basis, Mr. Satyanarayana said he would use his good offices for ensuring round-the-clock supply.
“If elected, I will try to bring greenfield industrial, IT and brownfield projects to the constituency. Health City, Pharma City, IT Park and other big projects were grounded during the rule of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the YSCRP will develop Visakhapatnam into a prominent industrial and IT hub,” he said.
Land grab case
Accusing the family of TDP leader Kala Venkata Rao of foisting a ‘false’ land grab case against him, Mr. Satyanarayana claimed the Energy Minister had refused to surrender a piece of land to facilitate completion of a road in front of a gated community being built by him near the ACA-VDCA stadium, adding that he would fight the case legally. “If proved guilty, I am ready for any punishment. If not, I will file a suit against Mr. Rao’s family for trying to tarnish my image,” he said.
