Top Gear Enjoys A Day In California Experiencing All Things Tesla

Few, if any, car manufacturers generate more publicity than Tesla right now; a remarkable feat considering the company is still very young compared to the rest of the industry, having been founded less than 16 years ago.

From selling highly-desirable electric vehicles all around the world to pushing forward technological innovations at remarkable speeds, Tesla has proven the doubters wrong and played a substantial role in accelerating the adoption of electrification across the automotive industry.

To see what all the fuss is about, Top Gear headed to California for a day jam-packed with everything Tesla.

The British publication’s first item on the agenda was a comprehensive tour of the Fremont factory near San Francisco. Tesla builds the Model 3, Model S, and Model X at this site, which was once operated by a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota. Tesla bought the factory for $42 million, and while that seems like a lot, it’s not that much, especially when you consider the site is actually bigger than the Vatican City.

After Top Gear’s adventure at the factory, it was time to jump in a Model 3 Performance and embark on a road trip down to Los Angeles where the Model Y launch was held at the Tesla Design Studio. On the journey, Top Gear stopped at the largest supercharging station in the country before showing up in L.A to see Elon Musk unveil the Model Y to the world.
