Gender Reveal Burnout Results In Police Seizing A Ford Falcon

Gender reveal parties are, apparently, one of the latest crazes as expectant parents try to outdo one another with insane stunts to announce whether they’re having a boy or a girl.

One such party recently took place in Silverdale, Australia and it featured a couple announcing they’re having a boy by performing a burnout with blue smoke.

As you can see in the video, a blue Ford Falcon performs an extended burnout and a couple of donuts while a crowd of onlookers cheers nearby. The stunt was also filmed by a man who disappears into a cloud of smoke.

No one appears to have been injured during the stunt, but it eventually caught the attention of New South Wales police after they saw video of the incident on social media. News 7 Brisbane spoke to Chief Inspector Stephen Blair and he was particularly upset that the driver put the cameraman in jeopardy. As he explained, “He was invisible with the amount of smoke that was generated from the screeching of the tires.”

A note obtained by the station suggests the gender reveal party was being hosted by one of the baby’s grandparents. Interestingly, they were pretty polite about the incident as they dropped a letter in their neighbor’s mailboxes informing them about the stunt. The note even suggested they could make “alternative arrangements” if any neighbors objected.

That probably would have been a wise decision, as four people have been charged in connection with the gender reveal. This reportedly includes the driver of the car, two of his friends and the baby’s grandmother. The Falcon was also confiscated and News.com.au says the driver is facing two counts of doing an aggravated burnout.

That’s a pretty serious offense as the NSW government says people who perform aggravated burnouts can have their plate or vehicle confiscated for three months. They can also receive a fine of up to $3,300 AUD ($2,345 USD) for a first offence.
