'There is a lot of interest in him': Holmes headed home after NFL trial
Valentine Holmes is on his way home.
The former Cronulla outside back will arrive in Sydney on Monday morning, having completed Pro Day testing as the culmination of his time in the NFL's International Pathway Program.
The feedback from NFL clubs, according to Holmes' agent Chris Orr, was very encouraging.
"After all the testing we got a lot of good feedback," Orr told the Herald.
"There is a lot of interest in him.
"Without saying too much more, we will make a decision in the next week or so."
Orr dismissed any suggestion Holmes' return to Sydney meant his NFL dream was over.
With the International Pathway Program now complete, Orr said Holmes was returning to Australia to have a break before making a call on his future.
Born-and-raised Australian Jordan Mailata took the same break before being signed by the Philadelphia Eagles.
"It's no different to what Jordan [Mailata] did," Orr said. "It's the end of the program so he is going home to have a break.
"He will have a break for a few weeks and make a decision while we're still in Sydney."
Holmes has spent the last three months at the IMG Academy in Florida, converting his superb rugby league skills into a package which he hopes could see him crack the NFL.
He has two possible paths to a contract with an NFL club.
He could be signed as a free agent or if no club chases his signature, he could be assigned to an NFC East team as part of the International Pathways Program.
