1,850 students to participate in National School Games from today

Ludhiana: As many as 1,850 players from across the country have arrived in Ludhiana, and are getting themselves registered for the 64th National School Games at Government Smart Senior Secondary School, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana, on Saturday. The games are all set to kick off on Sunday, and will conclude on April 12.
The district education department, Ludhiana, is hosting a competition of three games — hockey (under-19), mini-golf (under-14, under-19, and under-17), and sqay martial art (under-17) for both boys and girls. The games are being organised under the aegis of School Games Federation of India.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Swaranjit Kaur, district education officer (secondary) said players were provided all kinds of facilities. They were accommodated in 17 schools of the city, and provided with proper bedding, which includes mattresses, pillows, and bedsheets. “The department has also arranged buses for transportation of the players from their accommodation to the venue of the event, and vice-versa,” she said.
There are 26 teams of girls and 28 of boys for hockey. For mini-golf, in the under-14, there are 8 teams of girls and 10 of boys), under-19 (11 teams of boys and 10 of girls), and under-17 (10 teams of boys and 9 of girls). In the sqay martial art, there are 10 teams each of boys and girls.
The hockey matches of under-19 boys/girls will be played at PAU Hockey Astroturf, PAU ground, Guru Nanak Public School in Sarabha Nagar, and Government College for Boys. The matches of sqay martial art for under-17 boys/girls, and mini golf for under-14, 17, and 19 for boys and girls will be held at Government Smart Senior Secondary School in PAU.
