Musician Ramashesha passes away
Mysuru: Noted musician L Ramashesha died at a private hospital in the city due to age-related ailments on Sunday. He was 72.
Ramashesha is the father of famous playback singer Vijay Prakash.

He was living with his wife R Lopamudra, who is also an Indian classical singer, in Bogadi, and was suffering from heart-related ailment from the past seven years. His health deteriorated three days ago and he was admitted to a private hospital in Saraswathipuram. He breathed his last at 5.30am on Sunday.


Vijay Prakash‘s family friend M C Praveen told TOI that Ramashesha’s father L Lakshmipathi Bhagavatar was also an Indian classical singer and served as Harikathavidwan at Ramalingeshwara Temple at Vidyaranyapuram.


“Ramashesha was called as junior Balamuralikrishna. He was working in Ideal Jawa, but after the factory closed he started practicing music full time. The couple also taught Carnatic vocal to children. He was awarded the Karnataka Kala Thilak and Karnataka Kalashri awards,” he said.


Ramashesha’s elder son Paneedra Kumar is working in SJCE as administrative officer and a threatre artist, his younger son Vijay Prakash is a playback singer and composer. As Vijay Prakash is in the US as part of a music programme, the last rites will be performed on Tuesday, Praveen said.
