LUCKNOW: Brace for sultry conditions next week. Though thunderstorm may bring some relief on Monday, both temperature and humidity are expected to soar thereafter.
The city has been reeling under hot and humid conditions for the past two days. On Saturday, maximum temperature was 37.9 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal, and minimum temperature was 24,4 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal. However, since relative humidity was also high at 77%, the weather was sultry during the day.
Similar conditions are expected on Sunday. Sky will be partly cloudy with maximum and minimum temperatures around 36 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. However, there is a possibility thunderstorm and rain on Monday, which will lead to drop in temperatures. However, mercury will start rising again from Tuesday and is expected to touch 40 degrees by the end of the week. The rise in humidity levels after thunderstorm will keep weather sultry.
State Met director JP Gupta said a western disturbance over Himalayas and a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan has changed wind pattern from dry north-westerly to moisture laden south-easterly.
