The tall claim of readiness of state power distribution company Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVCL) has been badly exposed as residential colonies remained plunged in darkness throughout the night after the dust storm lashed the capital city on Friday.
Power supply in the city began with the thundershowers and the residents in many parts of the city have to bear with load shedding as power supply remained disrupted throughout the night. Teams of MPMKVCL were pressed to repair the broken wires and the work of restoration of power supply went on till late in night.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) team also remained engaged for traffic clearance as tree fell down at many places in the state capital. CGM (MPMKVCL) Anil Khatri said, “Falling tree branches have broken the power supply lines. It was a tedious job but our team completed it. We carry out maintenance work regularly. But this is situation was a different one- as we faced problems on two fronts—traffic blockage due to fallen trees and then broken wire. However, BMC team removed the fallen trees to clear the traffic and out team repaired the faults.”
General manager Bhopal circle Amrit Pal Singh said, “Our teams were immediately pressed into the job for repairs. It was time consuming but by the morning, we had finished the repair work. Not only wires were broken, even branches fell on power supply. So we could restore power supply with the help of BMC administration.”
BMC additional commissioner Ranvir Kumar Singh said, “We co-operated with Vidyut Vitaran Company to restore the power supply. Throughout the night, we worked together and ultimately by the morning traffic and power supply was back to normal.”
