Two Tirupuur-based men into garment business lost their job order from a foreign client after the election flying squad seized the garment samples here on Saturday which they were taking to Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to show the buyer.
The squad were forced to return the seized items to the businessmen after they petitioned the District Collector.
The car travelled by K.R. Kumar, N. Palaniraj and their friend from Tiruppur were blocked by an election flying squad team at Kuniyamuthur around 7.30 a.m. when they were travelling to CIAL.
“The officials seized around 40 T-shirts from my firm Kevin Garments and 25 track pants from Mr. Palaniraj's Anita Garments though we explained they were samples to be shown to the client. The officials did not heed to our explanations and seized it. We had scheduled to meet the client at 12.30 p.m. at CIAL,” said Mr. Kumar.
The two businessmen later petitioned District Collector. Following his order the samples were returned around 3.30 p.m. “Though we got the materials back, we lost a business,” said Mr. Kumar.
