When you think about bidding for a low-mileage and relatively rare car, a Neon is probably not the first nameplate that comes to mind. Nor the second, third and so on. However, this one does stand out.

This is an Orange Blast 2005 Neon SRT-4 and it has just 2,900 miles (4,667 km) on the clock. According to its Bring a Trailer listing, only 1,800 Orange Blast Neon SRT-4s were produced for the final model year in 2005. This means you’re likely to drive a long way before seeing another one quite like it.

Compared to a base Neon, the SRT-4 comes with more aggressively-styled front and rear fascias, rocker extensions, dual exhaust tips, a large rear wing and 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich G-Force tires.

Inside, there are Dark Slate Grey cloth sports seats with leather bolsters, power front windows, power mirrors and a special SRT gauge cluster with a 160 mph (257 km/h) speedometer and a 6,000 rpm redline on the tachometer.

The 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder turbocharged engine puts out 230 HP (233 PS) and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque – that’s 15 more horses and 5 more lb-ft (7 Nm) than a 2003 model. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox and the official 0-60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time is 5.3 seconds.

The seller also says that this car features a Mopar Stage 1 upgrade with an updated PCM (Powertrain Control Module), though there’s no mention of an increase in power. At the time of writing, the highest bid was $13,000, with three days left until the end of the auction.
