Reversing truck kills man busy talking on phone in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A mason died after he was knocked down by a reversing truck in Kanjurmarg (east) on Thursday night. The deceased, Vashist Rajbhar (39) was speaking on phone in the compound and the driver of the cement mixer truck failed to notice him in the dark while he was reversing the vehicle at the Crompton Greaves compound.

An officer from Kanjurmarg police station said that Rajbhar’s legs came under the rear wheels of the truck. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors on duty declared dead.


The truck driver, who escaped from the spot, was arrested on Friday. He has been charged with rash driving and causing death by negligence.
