DARTMOUTH – Just after noon Saturday, two officers with the Dartmouth Police Department were exposed to fentanyl while making an arrest following a traffic stop.

The fentanyl was hidden inside both the vehicle and the suspects wallet, a press release from Detective Kyle J. Costa of the Dartmouth Police Department.

As a result of their exposure, both officers were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they were evaluated and subsequently released.

The operator of the vehicle, Jared Barbosa, 29, of Fall River, was arrested on two outstanding warrants, both of which were drug related. Additional charges associated with the fentanyl are pending.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:36 p.m. during a traffic stop on State Road.
