HYDERABAD: The Congress party on Saturday ridiculed AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi for calling Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao a ‘true Hindu’.

“With less than five days to go for polling, neither TRS nor MIM has come out with a manifesto or with a list of promises they plan to fulfil if voted to power. Now they are trying to polarise the elections by raising the ‘Hindu-Muslim’ topic,” said Sameer Waliullah, chairman, Hyderabad City Congress Committee (HCCC) Minorities Department.

Waliullah said earlier those opposing MIM were called ‘non-Muslims’ by the party leaders and now they appear to have taken the agency to distribute certificates on being ‘Hindus’.

Waliullah asked Owaisi to specify as to what made him believe that KCR is a ‘true Hindu’. “KCR has been a Modi bhakt since beginning. Both KCR and Owaisi are followers of ‘Moditva’ and they want to damage the secular forces in India,” he said.

He appealed to the people not to get misled by the statements of Owaisi and KCR and vote for the Congress.
