Nuzrath Jahan, the Independent candidate contesting elections from the Kozhikode Lok Sabha constituency, has come out with a 32-point election manifesto that focuses on public welfare.
The manifesto was released by K.P. Abdul Kareem, chairman of the Nuzrath Jahan election committee, by handing it over to P. Sasikumar, State president of the Republican Party of India, on Saturday.
Ensuring availability of drinking water in all parts of the constituency, land and house to all homeless in the State and a complete package for the welfare of expatriates are some of the points stressed in the manifesto. Ms. Jahan suggests an end to the NRI quota system and a monthly pension scheme for those who have spent a major part of their lives abroad. A revival of traditional industries, an international sports complex in Kozhikode and ensuring rehabilitation of mentally challenged children are some of the other promises. Ms. Jahan said she would work towards finding permanent solutions to the problems faced by women, differently abled persons, sexual minorities, youth, expatriates, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, homeless, merchants and labourers.
The Republican Party of India, the Janata Dal (United), and the Pravasi National Federation have offered their support to Ms. Jahan.
