CPM promises speedy trial in assault cases
Coimbatore: Speedy trial in sexual assault cases, women’s safety, GST exemption for job-order sector and central technical and management institutions in Coimbatore, were some of the promises in the Coimbatore-specific manifesto of CPM candidate P R Natarajan which he released on Sunday.

Natarajan said he would stop the move to privatize the city’s drinking water supply and ensure free and clean drinking water supply to everyone.

In his manifesto, Natarajan said if elected, he would work to get speedy trials in cases of sexual assaults and would take steps to construct government-run hostels for women who come to the city from other places to work.

Saying that the district’s businesses have been badly hit due to moves such as demonetization and GST, Natarajan said he would push for exempting the job-order sector from GST and levying a minimal GST for finished goods. tnn
