Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency 2019: The key contest in Kakinada is going to be among BJP’s Yalla Venkata Ramamohana Rao (Dorababu), Congress’ MM Pallam Raju, YSR Congress Party's Vanga Geetha and TDP’s Chalamalasetti Sunil.

Kakinada Lok Sabha Constituency 2019: The key contest in Kakinada is going to be among BJP’s Yalla Venkata Ramamohana Rao (Dorababu), Congress’ MM Pallam Raju, YSR Congress Party's Vanga Geetha and TDP’s Chalamalasetti Sunil. Being one of the key constituencies in Andhra Pradesh, Kakinada lies near East Godavari district.

Winning the Parliamentary seat in 2014 against YSRC’s Chalamalasetty on TDP’s ticket, Thota Narasimham has now joined the YSR Congress while Chalamalasetty joined TDP for the forthcoming elections and has been nominated for Kakinada parliamentary seat while former Rajya Sabha MP Vanga Geeta has been named by YSR Congress as its candidate.

BJP's presence in Kakinada constituency is not that impressive and the main contest is likely to be witnessed between TDP and YSRCP candidates. BJP had won only once in this constituency in 1988.

Out of the total population of 1,936,809 total, 34.22% comprises of urban and 65.78% is represented by rural. While 15.43 and 1.67 is the SC/ST ratio in the constituency.

Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency results in 2014, 2009 and 2004

2014: Thota Narasimham (M) of the TDP, who received 46.76% votes, won the election against Chalamalasetty Sunil (M) of the YSRCP.         

2009: Dr M Mangapati Pallam (M) of the Congress, who received 323607 votes defeated Chalamalasetty Sunil (M) of the PRAP who got only 289563 votes.

2004: Mallipudi Mangapati Pallam Raju (M) of the Congress received 410982 votes and defeated Mudragada Padmanabham (M) of the TDP got 353730 votes.

Lok Sabha election 2019 in Andhra Pradesh will be held across all 25 parliamentary seats in the first phase on April 11. Assembly election will also take place simultaneously in the state. The votes will be counted on May 23.
