Gurgaon: Two days after conman Sandeep Sharma was nabbed for allegedly threatening a constable by posing as an IPS officer, police have now launched a manhunt for his accomplice. The absconding person, a ‘friend’ of Sandeep (37), was driving the Toyota Fortuner SUV in which they went to Ambience Mall on the night of the incident.
The ‘friend’ had allegedly thrashed and tried to abduct Delhi Police constable Ankit Kumar, the complainant in the case. On Saturday, a special police team was deputed to Ludhiana in Punjab to find the accused.
While the police are on the lookout for Sandeep’s accomplice, the former had been kept in three days’ police remand. It has come to light that Sandeep, apart from being allegedly involved in a number of fraudulent activities, was also into liaisoning work.
During his questioning, according to the police, he attributed his lifestyle to the ‘success fee’ that he earned by liaisoning for other entities. The police said that the car that Sandeep was in on Thursday was given to him by the owner of a renowned school chain in NCR. Meanwhile, Sandeep took names of various policemen and IAS officers to save himself, the police said. A senior police officer said that Sandeep was a business partner of former President Pranab Mukherjee’s son and a friend of the deceased Sunanda Pushkar.
