UP chief electoral officer L Venkateshwar Loo said that a report from Saharanpur district magistrate has been sought over Mayawati’s speech. However, he did not specify which part of her speech was deemed objectionable.
“There were some comments on social media as well TV media reports on her speech. We have asked the Saharanpur DM to prepare a report,” he said.
Asked if the cognisance was regarding the part where Mayawati asked the Muslim community to vote in favour of the SP and RLD candidates and not the Congress, he said he can’t comment on that.
“That is why we have the sought the report to see if there was anything objectionable,” he said.
"We finalized the ticket of our Muslim candidate long before Congress did... I want to tell the people of Muslim community... Don't divide your vote...Give your vote to the BSP, the RLD," she said at the rally.
