1947: Plenty of dealerships introduce car and truck buyers to their service department, but Muncey Chevrolet in Detroit operated a service-to-sales handoff as early as the 1940s. Here, a large sign above the dealership's parts counter directs customers to visit the showroom. Despite such innovation, the dealership is no longer in business; its building now houses a van and truck upfitter.
