Nigerian woman held with Rs 2.5cr heroin

Ludhiana: Khanna police on Saturday arrested a Nigerian woman with 450g heroin, worth Rs 2.5 crore, on Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway in the Alour area in Khanna.
The accused was identified as 38-year-old Gillian Abang of Ikotun City Lagas in Nigeria who was currently staying in Chattarpura in Delhi and worked as a cook.
Khanna DSP Deepak Rai said as part of their special campaign against drug trafficking, a police party had set up a checkpost near a mall on the GT Road. During checking, police saw the woman descending from a bus. The official said on suspicion, police party stopped her for checking. On frisking, police found 450g heroin from her possession. The accused has been booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at Sadar Khanna Police station.
Police officials said the accused had brought the consignment from Delhi and was to supply the same in a private university near Jalandhar. They added that estimated cost of the recovered consignment was around Rs 2.5 crore.
Cops said the accused said she had come to India on a tourist visa and had misplaced her passport. They added that the accused might have been living in India illegally.
Police officials said they are scanning records to ascertain whether the accused has other cases against her in the state.
The DSP said the police would interrogate her further and there is a possibility of major disclosures from her.
