Spl security for highly sensitive centres: DEO

Kanpur: District election officer (DEO) Vijay Vishwas Pant on Saturday inspected the highly sensitive polling centres of the city, and directed the officials to make special security arrangements at these centres to ensure peaceful polling.
He directed respective police station officers and magistrates to take effective measures against criminals. He has also directed the officials to ensure availability of power, potable water, construct ramps for physically challenged persons and raise shades to protect voters from direct sunlight at each polling centre and booth.
“All assistant returning officers should supervise the ongoing construction of ramps in their respective booths and centres, and ensure that the construction should not be below standard.
He also directed the supervisors to keep mobile numbers and addresses of physically challenged persons of their locality so that they could be fetched to the polling centres. The district election officer visited Babu Purwa, Nayaganj and Chamanganj polling centres along with chief development officer Akshay Tripathi, ADM (city) Vivek Srivastava and the city magistrate.
