CHENNAI: The Enforcement Directorate attached 45 immovable properties, worth Rs 4.7 crore, of Mohammed Ibrahim Sait and others in a money laundering case linked to the Madurai granite mining scam. The properties were situated in Keelavalavu, Thiruvathavur, Thumbaipatti, Pudusukampatti and Soorakundu villages in Melur area of Madurai district.
Sait took quarry licences. He had encroached on government land and used explosives to mine granite illegally from there, the ED said.
The ED said Sait had used the proceeds of the crime to procure these properties in his and his family's name because of which they had been attached.
