In a bizarre incident, on Friday a 32-year-old Madhya Pradesh woman was arrested by Azad Maidan police for allegedly biting a woman constable.
According to the Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Thursday night when the 32-year-old woman was sleeping on a park bench. A patrol team led by constable Savita Dimbar found the 32-year-old woman, Noori Shaikh, sleeping on a bench at Tata Garden at the Bhulabhai Desai Marg. The constable woke up Shaikh and asked for her name and address. The constable also asked Shaikh if she is in any trouble. Shaikh told constable that she is from Madhya Pradesh and came to Mumbai on Thursday and had no place to stay.
While the constable was enquiring Shaikh about her problem, the accused got irritated and pushed the constable away. When the constable tried to catch her, Shaikh bit the constable on her arm. The woman and Savita Dimbar got into a fight as the constable tried to detain Shaikh. Later, Savita Dimbar with the help of other constables arrested the woman. The accused had been remanded to two days of police custody and the cops are trying to get in touch with Shaikh’s family.
