Ex-fireman evacuates 30 people from fire at a building in Satellite

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service were informed about the incident and seven teams were rushed to the spot to control the situation

On Friday evening a fire broke out on the 10th floor of a building located in Satellite. The reason behind the fire was not known, but fire officials suspect that it must have occurred due to a short circuit. The incident took place at around 5.45pm in a penthouse located on the 10th floor of Satellite Tower apartment. The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service (AFES) were informed about the incident and seven teams were rushed to the spot to control the situation.

When the fire broke out an ex-firemen identified as Prahaladbhai, 37 was at a Petrol pump near the apartment. He witnessed the fire coming out from the top of the building and he immediately rushed to the spot to help the residences. He started evacuating the residence from the building, around more than 30 people were evacuated by him from the building. He also alerted the fire department about the incident and tried to control the fire.

Prahalad stayed at the spot fighting the fire, till help arrived at the spot. It was revealed later that Prahalad is ex-firemen and he was with the firemen department from between 2004 and 2009. Rajesh Bhatt, Additional Chief fire official, said, "It took us more than an hour to control the situation, the fire safety system of the building was out of order and was not operational. Our team got inside the building to control the fire, fortunately, no casualty was reported in the incident."

As per officials, when the team reached the spot locals were not cooperative.
